Vietnam 2009

The 2009 Sterling Group lecture tour to Vietnam took place from Wednesday 23 to Tuesday 29 September inclusive.  As last year, the tour concentrated on Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to build on contacts developed during the 2008 visit.

Following on from last year, the four members of the tour party gave 22 lectures to approximately 1200 students and staff in universities in both locations.  In addition, presentations were given in schools and two public lectures to prospective research students were delivered, one each in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.  The purpose of these presentations was to acquaint students with the undergraduate and postgraduate education systems in the UK and to give guidance on the preparation of a research application to a UK Sterling Group university.  Indications of funding opportunities were also presented.

Once again, the tour party was most impressed with the interest and enthusiasm of all the students and staff who attended the lectures and presentations.

The tour was organised in collaboration with the British Council whose planning and organisation was, once again, exemplary.
